Where the numbers come from

Our space figures are drawn from widely published manufacturer setup guidance (2025–2026) for the 3 launch monitors we track: setback distance behind the ball, recommended ball flight to the net, and the practical room depth those add up to. They are planning numbers, not gospel. We deliberately state assumed room dimensions as assumptions and never present them as your actual room.

How the fit checker scores a room

The Sim Room Fit Checker evaluates three independent gates and reports the worst result, because a bay is only as good as its tightest dimension:

• Ceiling gate — monitor-independent. It gates the swing, not the device. ~9 ft is the common full-swing guideline for most golfers; 10 ft+ is comfortable; below ~8.5 ft a full adult swing isn't realistic and we pivot the page to putting and short-game practice.
• Depth gate — per monitor. Each unit's setback behind the ball plus its recommended ball flight defines a practical minimum and a comfortable depth. Below the minimum is a won't-work; between the two is tight.
• Width gate — centered hitting wants ~12 ft, which a shared right/left bay needs. A single-handed bay can offset the station toward one wall to recover swing room down to ~9 ft.

The same engine powers the interactive tool and the room-type pages, so a verdict you read in a guide is identical to the one the tool produces for the same dimensions — they can never disagree.

The hedge we never drop

No chart knows your duct runs, your garage-door rail, your height, or your swing plane. Every verdict repeats the same instruction: confirm against your unit's manual and rehearse a slow swing with your longest club in the actual space before buying. We'd rather send you to measure twice than sell you a monitor that hits the joists.
